Antique Hardware & More was founded as a woman owned company in 1997. As a hobbiest refinisher since 1980, I was frustrated with the limited number of choices for quailty reproduction hardware and with the cost of the few options available. Simply put, I was tired of spending more on the hardware than I did on the piece they were going on. At that time, the internet was just emerging as a large scale market place so Antique Hardware & More was born. The goal was to provide quality hardware at reasonable prices. Since that time, the site has grown to meet the needs of hobbiest like myself as well as professional refinishers and furniture builders through our wholesale pricing program.
Even though we are a small company, we strive to provide our customers with a large selection of funriture hardware including drawer pulls, bin pulls, handles, tear dropand ring pulls, knobs, hinges, decoartive skeleton keys and keyhole covers, bed and mirror parts and much more. One of the areas we have greatly expanded in the last year is on out trunk parts selection. Antique Hardware & More now offers everything you need to either completely restore or build a steamer trunk of any shape and size. Leather trunk handles and handle end caps, wooden slats and slat clamps, locks, corners, hinges, casters and rollers and interior paper liner are just a few of the items offered on our site. Need a book on how to restore and old trunk? We have that, too. Need to specialized nails, tacks and rivets to put it all together, we have the size and finished that you need.
Among our newest product lines are the complete selection of Old Fashioned Milk Paint if yoiu are looking for an authentic, environmentally safe paint that gives a unique, one of a kind finish. We are also now carry cast iron shelf brackets that will add an unique, practicle accent to any room.
Over the years, we have had many customers request hardware that already looks aged, not something with a painted on brown finish trying to make it look old but falling short. To that end, we started offering a darkening or antiquing service available for many of our polished brass items. Our process involves using a mix of acids that, in essence, speeds up the natural aging process. If you order more than one item, we make sure that all of your order is antiqued at the same time to ensure that all of the items have the same finish. The end result are pieces of hardware that blend perfectly with your antique furniture.
